Chrome Sand (Cr2O3 44-47%) South Africa
Chrome sand is primarily composed of chromium oxide (Cr2O3) and iron oxide (Fe0). It is a naturally occurring spinel and a by-product of ferro-chrome production. Chrome sand has the following physical and chemical properties: Melting point of 2150°C. Good thermal conductivity. Good resistance to thermal shock. Excellent resistance to metal penetration or burn-on. Resists slag attack. High dimensional stability.
Uses:
1. Used in foundry.
2. Used in glass production.
